WHEN LIFESTYLE MEETS PURPOSE

DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, EVERYDAY ROUTINES & TASKS: Sometimes, we get tired of all these, right?

Have you ever been in a situation wherein you just feel so tired and wanting to quit everything in a snap? Sometimes, we encounter these life hurdles that make us deeply think all throughout the day, we call it stress. Sadly, our personal stress lasts longer because of three (3) things that some of us keep on doing, which I personally experienced too: First, we baby the stress. Second, we cling to the wrong resolution. Lastly, we let our attitude take control of us.

As we face another week,

allow me to share with you the things

I did to find REST in the middle of STRESS.

3 POWER D'S TO FIND REST IN THE MIDDLE OF STRESS

Let’s put it in our mind that we can never ever escape stress. But, we can lessen it. One common misconception of people nowadays when battling stress is one should get out of the situation by doing things that will only divert their focus without solving the main issue. So what should we do?

(1) DEFINE THE CORE STRESSORS

Core Stressors are the main factors in your personal situation that cause you to carry a heavy burden. A kind of burden that pull you back to do things to the best of your ability and potential. Why do we need to define these stressors? Simply because, we will not be able to find the right resolution if the problem was never identified at first. It is very important to define the core stressors so that we know the right approach and to avoid situational shocks. It could be EMOTIONAL PAIN, FINANCIAL CRISIS, FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS, GETTING IN A CERTAIN SITUATION UNPREPARED, PHYSICAL ILLNESS and more.

(2) DIRECT YOUR EYES ON THE SOLUTION

Direct your eyes on the solution not on the problem. If we magnify the weight of the stressor’s effect, we’re trying to take off the shield that filters the stress. Let our eyes focus on managing the stress and aim to get out of the battlefield. Dwelling on the problem alone won’t bring us out of the unwanted situation.

(3) DISCOVER YOUR PERSONAL OUTLETS

There are two (2) types of stress outlets: The Stress Relievers and the Stress Killers

Stress Relievers have the fastest relief that bring people out of the stress zone instantly but double the pressure of the stress right away. Let’s call it a Short-term Stress Busters. (Vices, Making yourself pre-occupied, Splurging too much, Deciding for something instantly with unstable mind)

On the other hand, Stress Killers allow people to face the actual weight of the stressor. It may take longer time but as the person goes on, he/she learns how to accept and manage the stress at the same time. The heavy burden won't go away but the person gets to know how to find rest in the middle of stress. Let’s call it a Long-term Stress Busters. (Talking to loved ones / trusted ones regarding what you’re going through, Taking enough sleep, Exercise / Working Out, Diverting stress through your hobbies, Quiet Time with God, Listening to music)

RELAX, LEARN HOW TO TAKE CONTROL..

In life, stress will always be a very special part of  God’s way on sharpening each and every individual character of His children. He wants to mold us according to the shape that He wants us to be. He also wants us to fuly rely on Him, not only in desperate times but even in every second of the day. If we know how to manage stress without breaking down, that means, we can fully control of ourselves - and that we become unshakable in the middle of the shakeable situation. For it is written in Luke, “Stand firm, and you will win life..”

Leaving you this powerful verse from James that keeps on striking my heart until today: “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything”  JAMES 1:2-4
